At KONFU Enterprise, our zinc plating service is a cornerstone of our post-processing capabilities, engineered primarily to provide exceptional corrosion resistance and significantly increase the lifespan of fasteners. We employ a systematic and refined process to ensure every component receives a high-quality, protective zinc coating.

Our Comprehensive Plating Methodology

For components like screws, we utilize the highly effective barrel plating method. This technique involves placing parts in a barrel and rotating them to ensure even and consistent coating. The entire process is underpinned by rigorous cleaning and preparation to guarantee flawless plating adhesion and performance.

Key Stages of the KONFU Zinc Plating Process:

• Degreasing: This essential first step removes contaminants like cutting oil from the substrate. Proper cleaning is vital for the adhesion of the zinc plating. To achieve a completely clean surface, we have extended our degreasing stage from the standard 4 tanks to an 8-tank system, increasing immersion time for superior results.
• Pickling: Following degreasing, an acid treatment with hydrochloric acid is applied to remove any surface rust or scale, preparing the metal for plating.
• Zinc Plating (Electro-galvanizing): This is the core process where a thin layer of zinc (0.2 - 0.5 mil) is applied using an electric current. Zinc acts as a sacrificial coating, corroding before the underlying steel or iron to provide robust protection. To enhance performance, we have expanded our plating line from 12 to 14 tanks, prolonging immersion for a more durable coating.
• Passivating: Before drying, a chromate-based solution creates a protective outer layer over the zinc plating. In line with our commitment to environmental standards and customer requirements, we exclusively use trivalent chromium passivation, avoiding the more hazardous hexavalent chromium.
• Drying and Inspection: After the chemical processes, the fasteners are sent to a drying machine. A thorough final inspection is conducted to ensure every batch meets our high-quality standards before being packed for shipment.

Each stage is followed by a water rinsing step to ensure the integrity of the next application, reflecting our commitment to precision and quality in every aspect of our fastener post-processing services.
